Broken Index: Melby (SWE) + Wild Forest + Krat

Entrance: 60 kr

I got another special one for y’alls.
A year ago, I visited Gothenburg, Sweden. I was hearing a lot of good music coming out of there. So, what do I do? I booked a trip out there to a random festival called Waves Rolling. It was a rainy horrid day, especially when the venue was in a warehouse district where bus/train stops were nowhere to be found. I went alone for the 2 dates and walked the rainy-daze. Of all the bands, Melby really stood out among them all and really excited about this one. 😇

Melby (SWE)
From the Swedish Indie scene, the quartet lands a perfect Indie-psych/pop album. 𝗡𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗿𝘆 —an amply titled album— a playful album where each track has a clear direction towards a mood. From melancholic psych-folk to upbeat dream-pop, they deliver a swarm of different avenues for their soundscape. Additionaly, singer, Matilda Wiezell has shown her willingness to collaborate with others in the scene like: MANKIND, Honeymilk, and Steve Buscemi’s Dreamy Eyes. Which give me more respect for the band overall. Their 2017 debut EP received praise from both Swedish and international sources such as Amazing Radio, Ja Ja Ja and Line of Best Fit, making Melby one of the most exciting names.
✨Oh and their single, “Cross”, from their debut EP has close to 700k listens on Spotify already. I’d say it’s a solid start. ✨

Much of the band reflects great indie artists like: Jay Som, Forth Wanderers, Alvvays, and Amason.

Wild Forest
🌲🌲One of my earliest encounters with a Danish band was the Americana folk rockster’s Wild Forest. They come from southern countryside, way past Koge. They recorded all of their stuff on their LP, Earthbound, in their rehearsal space. They’ve toured in China and all around Denmark. Since the release and some gigs, they returned to the countryside to build a recording space and rehearsal space in a barnhouse. After over a year of being on hiatus and focussing on the barnhouse studio, they finally put up walls and electricity to begin playing together again.
